Nationwide actions on November 2

On November 2, in 67 cities, 43 colleges and universities, and 90 high
schools (at last count), people are walking out of school and work and
demonstrating to drive out the Bush regime.

A battle is brewing over high school students walking out in schools
through out New York City. Clergy and lawyers are monitoring the
situation on behalf of the students. At 3pm today, Hot 97 refused to
run a paid ad for November 2 created by Boots Riley of The Coup, that
was to have run beginning this afternoon as high school kids were
getting out of school.

a matter of course is not recommended.  When starting a thread
crossposted to more than 3 groups, make sure you
are on-topic for all groups, and set followups to the group

violations of the us.* hierarchy  rules to the
us.* hierarchy administration.  Further action, including cancellation
of an offending post, is at the discretion of the
us.* hierarchy administration.

If for any reason, the host is unable or unwilling to continue
monitoring the group, the us.* hierarchy administration shall post a
notice asking for volunteers or nominations from the group.  If there is
no contest,a sole volunteer or nominee

ATHEIST FOXHOLES EVENT TO INCLUDE APPEARANCE, SALUTE TO HANS KASTEN --
A GREATEST GENERATION STORY FINALLY TOLD SIX DECADES LATER!
<http://www.atheists.org/flash.line/foxhole1.htm>

“No Atheists in Foxholes!” Don’t believe it. Atheists and other
nonbelievers have always served this country in peace and war, and they
do so today. The remarkable story of Hans Kasten is just part of the
proof. Kasten was one of several hundred American POWs forced into
slave labor by the Nazis. He was beaten for refusing to turn over
“Jewish” troops, escaped from a POW camp, and worked to hunt down his
jailers. Kasten and other Foxhole Atheists will be honored at a Parade
and Rally on Veterans Day, Friday November 11, 2005 in Washington, DC!

Visit http://www.atheists.org/flash.line/foxhole1.htm for the full
story!

The historic Atheists in Foxholes Parade & Rally will take place on
Friday, November 11, 2005 -- this coming Veterans Day.
-- The parade is open to all retired and active-duty members of the
Armed Forces (for more information visit
http://www.atheistfoxholes.org) <http://www.atheistfoxholes.org%29/>.

Form up beginning at 10:30 AM directly east of 14th Street on the
Mall. Signs will signify areas where vets of different eras can
assemble. You are welcome to bring your own appropriately-themed
signs, banners and flags. Be sure to wear appropriate attire for this
event! We ask that all participants in the Parade be there no later
than 10:45. The Parade will begin promptly at 11:00 AM and proceed
down the Mall to the 4th St. Rally location. Marshals will be
available to direct the Parade, answer questions and provide for
special needs.

The Parade itself is restricted to vets and active-duty military!
This is their day, their event! Others are encouraged to line the
Parade route which runs down the Mall between Madison Drive and
Jefferson Drive.

The Parade will take approximately 20-25 minutes to reach the Rally
stage location. Events there will begin promptly at 11:30 AM. All
may assemble in front of the stage. Portable toilets and a First Aid
station will be set up. Some may wish to bring folding chairs or a
blanket.

********

A note on signs, posters, banners and more...

The Atheists in Foxholes event is about the veterans and active duty
military personnel who have served our country and defended the ideas
enunciated in our secular Constitution.

We welcome signs, banners and flags for this event. National Park
Service rules prohibit any signs mounted on wooden posts. Also,
please note -- this is not about our respective
Atheist/Freethought/Humanist or other organizations! (This is NOT the
Godless Americans March on Washington, remember that?) This event is
NOT a promotion for any group. So, please keep that in mind in
respect to the theme of any signs or banners. We encourage you,
instead, to use signs and other devices to salute our "Atheists in
Foxholes."

Also, this is not a referendum on a particular war or the idea of war.
It is not about promoting awareness of other issues having to do with
nonbelief or the First Amendment. It's about the vets.
There will be other forums and venues where you can "blow off steam"
about your favorite issues, or promote your particular favorite group
-- but this is not an appropriate situation. Please be aware of this.
The Atheists in Foxholes event is about our vets and active duty
military personnel. If you have doubts about an appropriate sign or
message, we suggest that you bring an American flag instead. Thanks!

Assunto: Hillary Clinton's sellout of America to Israel!
Hillary Clinton is now a political ally of Newt Gingrich and the
Neoconservative cult that started the illegal war in Iraq, a war fought
for Israel.  Hillary Clinton supports Israel's apartheid wall and Ariel
Sharon's illegal land grab on the West Bank.  This is just the kind of
immoral behavior that created the 911 attack.  The world hates us for a
reason and Hillary Clinton will only add to that justifiable hatred.
The US Congress is cutting needed social programs just to finance an
illegal war.  Hillary Clinton and Newt Gingrich are united in fighting
for a bigger army and even more military spending, all for the sake of
Israel and at the expense of American families.

Let's see, we've had -- just in my local area -- police officers,
Iraq veterans, paramedics and plain old ordinary citizens murdered by
illegal aliens. Why should they show G-Men any deference?

[Note: "MS-13" -- "MS" standing for "Mara Salvatrucha," meaning
"clever person" in illegal alien street slang -- is a street gang
started by illegal aliens in Los Angeles during the 1980s. According
to a very recent Los Angeles Times report, police officials in that
city now believe that much of the rioting that swept that city in the
wake of the Rodney King trial -- U.S. National Guard troops were
called in to patrol neighborhoods -- was in fact started by this
gang.]

Two alleged gang members killed after FBI agents ambushed

November 4, 2005

By Chau Nguyen / 11 News

Nerves are on edge in an east Houston neighborhood where FBI agents
killed two suspected gang members during a wild shootout overnight.

Steve Hernandez said it's a quiet neighborhood -- until the sun goes
down.

Under cover FBI agents killed two and wounded two other gang member
suspects after they were ambushed overnight.

"Last night was the worst we had never seen it like that," Hernandez
said.

The agents were conducting an undercover drug investigation involving
possible MS-13 gang members.

They approached an abandoned home on Liberty Road with HPD officers.
They ordered the suspects inside to drop their weapons. Instead, the
suspected gang members opened fire on the agents.

The agents returned fire, killing two suspects and wounding two
others.

Three more were taken into custody.

None of the FBI agents was wounded.

Residents say crime has long been a problem in their neighborhood.
Experts say grafitti in the area likely signals a gang presence.

"They're marking their territory to a certain extent so it may be a
problem for that particular area where they are seeing grafitti,"
explained HPD Captain Mike Graham, head of the gang division.

Graham says it's hard to say whether gang-related crimes are on the
rise since HPD only recently updated their database to better document
them.

Steve Hernandez just hates to see it in his neighborhood.

"We're scared somebody might try to hide in our yard and try to get in
our house," Hernandez siad.

The names of the dead suspects have not been released. Investigators
aren't saying yet whether they were MS-13 gang members.

Assunto: Dump LEGAL immigrants' son Judge Alito, demands pro-illegal alien group
The following hissy fit by LULAC, the race-based "advocacy group"
for illegal aliens (but ONLY "Latino" ones) is followed by an antidote
of sorts: an excerpt from James Fallon's expose of the anti-American
agendas of this notorious group.

Bush misses another opportunity to nominate a Hispanic to the Supreme
Court

LULAC organizational leaders to develop Diversity Score Card on
Judicial Appointments, questioning Bush’s commitment to diversity

October 31, 2005

Washington, DC -- The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)
expressed today its frustration over President Bush’s nomination of
Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. to the U.S. Supreme Court.  This is the
third opportunity Bush has missed to diversify the court by not naming
a Hispanic to the seat.  It is clear to LULAC officials that Bush has
misled the Hispanic community by not keeping his promise of being a
Hispanic-friendly president in the courts . . .

LULAC will closely research Samuel A. Alito’s record and encourage a
thorough and vigorous confirmation process.  To educate the Latino
community, LULAC will develop a Diversity Score Card on Judicial
Appointments that will examine Bush’s commitment to diversity.

"President Bush has had three opportunities to name a Hispanic to the
Supreme Court.  We will no longer be fooled by the president or his
administration into believing the Latino community is of top concern,”
said Brent Wilkes, LULAC national executive director.  “The Diversity
Score Card on Judicial Appointments will be used to educate our
communities on the lack of diversity under this administration,
highlight candidates who are committed to diversifying our government,
and lead voters to the polls so they may elect diversity-friendly
candidates."

Cases of concern presided under Alito are those related to immigration
and Spanish language.  In the Pemberthy v. Beyer case, Alito seemed
amenable to peremptory juror challenges based on race or ethnicity and
found persuasive a prosecution argument that Spanish-speaking members
on a jury could be barred because they might substitute their own
interpretation of Spanish testimony and transcripts as opposed to
relying on the official English translation.

With respect to immigration, Alito seems ready to depart from his
colleagues and order immigrants to return to their home countries
despite fears of persecution that his colleagues on the panel found
credible or at least worthy of investigation.  In the Lee v. Ashcroft
case, Alito would have broadened Congress’s determination that tax
evasion was a deportable offense to include the filing of false
returns as such an offense.  The majority said that Alito was ignoring
well-established rules of statutory construction by speculating on
Congress’ intent.

An excerpt from "Funding Hate - Foundations and the Radical Hispanic
Lobby- Part III"

The Social Contract (Fall 2000)

by Joseph Fallon

" . . . today LULAC's goals center on ''group entitlements'' as can
be seen in The 1998 LULAC Legislative Platform . . .

Among its objectives expansion of American empowerment and enterprise
zones along the U.S.-Mexican border; incentives for ''Hispanic'' small
businesses; retention of affirmative action hiring policies ''to
ensure diversity in all workplaces''; preventing California
Proposition 209 from being enforced; increasing the number of
''Hispanic Serving Institutions'' and according them ''as many of the
same benefits provided to Historically Black Colleges and
Universities'' [which is especially ironic insofar as Hispanics
themselves brought FAR more Africans to America as slaves than the
British did -- WakeUp]; increasing the number of ''Hispanics'' at all
levels of the federal government and in the civil service, especially
at ''key positions in the State Department, the Foreign Service and
the United Nations''; confirmation of 60 ''Hispanic'' judges;
appointing a ''Hispanic'' as the next Supreme Court justice; employing
sampling for the 2000 census; having the Census Bureau include the
population on the island of Puerto Rico in the total ''Hispanic''
population for the United States; increasing the number of ''Hispanic
oriented programming in TV and print'' as well as having the major
media companies increase the number of ''Hispanics'' employed in
''creative positions.''

U.S. citizenship is no longer important. Membership in LULAC is not
restricted to U.S. citizens. ''Residents of the United States'' are
now eligible to become members (Article III of the Constitution of the
League of United Latin American Citizens). Interestingly, it does not
specify that they be legal residents. U.S. Citizenship is also
apparently not a qualification for National, State, and District
Officers, whether elected or appointed. (Article VIII, Section 4).

LULAC's apparent attempt to denigrate the meaning and value of U.S.
citizenship extends to the franchise. In The 1998 LULAC Legislative
Platform, the organization appears to condone, if not actually
promote, the violation of this country's election laws. According to
the section entitled ''Voter Registration and Citizenship'' ''LULAC
actively encourages eligible Hispanics to fully participate in the
democratic process and register to vote. We also encourage those who
are eligible to become citizens'' (italics added). Since the law
states one must be a U.S. citizen in order to be eligible to vote, the
wording of this LULAC platform encourages voter fraud.

In 1954, LULAC supported immigration control and mass deportation of
illegal aliens. Today, LULAC opposes both measures. Convicted criminal
José Velez, the head of LULAC from 1990 to 1994, typifies this
reorientation. Using his ''special status with the INS as director of
LULAC,'' Velez submitted false documentation for 6,000 illegal aliens
seeking amnesty that netted him millions of dollars. Velez had
previously declared that the U.S. Border Patrol is ''the enemy of my
people and always will be.''

• ULAC sought amendments to the Illegal Immigration Reform and
Immigration Responsibility Act of 1996 to increase the cap on
suspensions of deportations from 4,000 to ''at least 75,000 per
year.''

• LULAC lobbied for full restoration of benefits cut by the Welfare
Reform Act of 1996 to legal immigrants.

• LULAC was one of the primary opponents of California Proposition 187
— the proposition to deny illegal aliens free social and welfare
services.

• LULAC ''reject[s] attempts to dramatically cut legal immigration''
insisting that current levels of nearly one million a year ''serve[s]
the U.S. national interest.''

• LULAC opposes any deployment of the military to defend U.S. borders
— not even to interdict drug smugglers — because ''military personnel
are not trained for border patrolling and might easily violate the
civil rights of those they intervene with.''

Prior to the 1960s, LULAC recognized English as the official language
of the United States. Today, LULAC vigorously opposes any official
recognition of English as the language of this country.

For example, in 1996, when U.S. House of Representatives passed the
''English Language Empowerment Act'' declaring English the official
language of the United States in the ''Bilingual Voting Rights Act,''
LULAC responded with an ''Action Alert'' to members and supporters.
Full of disinformation, smears, and the threat of violence, this
''Action Alert'' claimed

English Only is incredibly divisive because it sends the message that
the culture of language minorities is inferior and illegal. With a
dramatic increase in hate crimes and right wing terrorist attacks in
the United States, the last thing we need is a frivolous bill to fuel
the fires of racism. …English Only is unnecessary because over 97
percent of Americans already speak English and those who don't are
eagerly trying to learn. English language classes have three year
waiting lists in Los Angles and New York and current immigrants are
learning English at a faster rate than their predecessors.

LULAC offered no evidence to support any of these claims. If what
LULAC claimed was true, however, then why was LULAC — a) opposed to
legally recognizing this fact by legally recognizing English as the
official language of the United States and b) demanding that the U.S.
government provide bilingual voting ballots, bilingual welfare forms,
bilingual motor vehicle examinations, bilingual education, bilingual
translators, etc.

Bushicide of the GOP -- And Of America?

By Steve Sailer

In all the many discussions of Red (Republican) states and Blue
(Democratic) states since the 2000 Presidential election, the most
striking finding that emerged has been that the GOP share of the vote
correlates extremely closely with "affordable family formation" for
non-Hispanic whites.

In states where young white couples make enough money to buy a house
with a yard in a neighborhood with a decent public school, they are
more likely to get married and more likely to have more children.

And where you find lots of white married couples with lots of
children, you'll find lots of Republican voters.

So you might think that the Bush Administration would promote policies
making family formation more affordable for its political base. But
the latest government data suggest that it is not.

As I pointed out in a series of articles last winter, in the 2004
election Bush carried—

The 26 states with the least housing price inflation since 1980:
That's what I call The Mortgage Gap.

The 25 states in which white women from 18 through 44 average the
most years married: I call this The Marriage Gap.

And 25 of the top 26 states in total lifetime fertility among younger
white women: I call this The Baby Gap.

In contrast, single people, especially single mothers, vote
Democratic.

For example, California voted Republican in nine of ten Presidential
elections, from 1952 through 1988. As recently as 1990, non-Hispanic
white women in California averaged 1.93 babies.

Over the next dozen years, though, as immigrants poured in,
California's white fertility rated dropped 14.4 percent to 1.65
babies. And the Democrats have carried the state easily four times in
a row.

If the Bush Administration had the long-term interests of the GOP at
heart, it would limit immigration to allow native-born Americans to
better afford marriage and children.

Cutting immigration would raise America's employment and wages, keep
housing prices in check, and make public schools better in quality by
not overloading them with children from families that don't speak
English and don't put a high value on education.

But instead, incredibly, the President has encouraged illegal
immigration—actually goading Mexicans to sneak across the border by
saying "You're going to come here if you're worth your salt…"

We could call this “Bushicide”—for the GOP, and for the American
nation.

Now the National Center for Health Statistics has released its
"Preliminary Births for 2004" report. And it's more apparent than ever
that the demographic trend is not the GOP's friend.

For example, illegitimate births grew 3.8 percent in just one year to
a new record of 1,470,000 in 2004. That's 35.7 percent of all births,
up from 34.6 percent in 2003.

Among non-Hispanic whites, the illegitimacy rate rose to 24.5 percent,
which is even higher than the notorious black illegitimacy rate that
so alarmed Daniel Patrick Moynihan in his famous 1965 report to LBJ
"The Negro Family: The Case for National Action."

Among African-Americans, there had been some hope that the
illegitimacy rate was starting to go down from its catastrophic level
of recent decades. But in 2004 it bumped back up to 69.2 percent.

The President has repeatedly assured us, "Family values don't stop at
the Rio Grande River." Yet the U.S. Hispanic illegitimacy rate rose
from 45.0 percent to 46.4 percent.

Sure, Latinos are assimilating—but they are assimilating toward
African-American norms. The illegitimacy rate is actually higher for
American-born Hispanics than for immigrant Hispanics. (Which doesn't
bode well for the future crime rate.)

The GOP won 58 percent of the white vote in 2004. It gets about nine
out of every ten of its votes from whites.

So it's not good news for Republicans that the number of babies born
to white women dropped by 18,000 last year to 2.303 million.

It’s not good news for two reasons:

Having babies (legitimately) encourages whites to vote Republican.

Judging from past elections, white babies are about twice as likely
to grow up to vote Republican as are nonwhite babies.

White women accounted for only 56.0 percent of all births in the U.S.
last year, down from 56.7 percent in 2003.

The total fertility rate, or expected lifetime number of babies, among
white women in their childbearing years fell from 1.87 to 1.85.

That's about 1/4th below the replacement rate at which a demographic
group can maintain a stable size.

In contrast, the number of babies born to Hispanic women grew by
33,000 (or 3.6 percent in one year) to 945,000, or 23.0% of all
births. (Latinos make up only about 14 percent of all residents.)

The Hispanic total fertility rate rose from 2.79 to 2.82.

The high Hispanic fertility is driven upwards by illegal immigration.
A recent analysis of 2002 data by Steven A. Camarota of the Center for
Immigration Studies suggests that the total fertility rate for illegal
Mexican immigrants is above 3.5 babies per woman. That compares to
only 2.4 for Mexican women in Mexico.

Keep in mind that Latinos also tend to have children at an earlier age
(their teen birth rate is more than triple the white rate). So their
growth rate relative to whites is even faster than the total fertility
numbers would suggest—because their average generation time is
shorter.

As we've seen in California, immigration is crowding out marriage and
childbirth among American citizens by making family formation less
affordable.

This will spread to the rest of the country—unless something is done,
i.e., current government policies are reversed.

During the last, disastrous, week, many Republicans have finally woken
up to realize that the Bush apparatchiks are not the political
geniuses that they've claimed to be.

If it is to survive, the Republican Party can no longer afford to
mortgage its future to George W. Bush's extraordinary obsession with,
in effect, abolishing the Rio Grande.

Nor can America.
