But can they be sued for malpractice?  Huh?

On paper they're supposed to meet high standards, but when pressed for
medical personnel the Armed Forces will eagerly take the dregs from medical
schools, that is, the dunces who graduate at the bottom of their classes and
are essentially handed diplomas just to be rid of them.  After a string of
malpractice suits and a revoked licence to practice, these "doctors" soon
turn up in one of two places:

1)  Inner cities, "treating" the poor in "free clinics"

2)  The U.S. Armed Forces, where they can maim with impunity.

Yeah, I know, you'll cover for ANYONE in uniform, even if he is a failed
butcher's apprentice who calls himself a "surgeon."  Take it from someone
whose family members have suffered at the hands of these quacks.

Then get thee to the classified ads in the back of any issue of Army

for plaintiffs to sue the government because of medical care.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man: How the U.S. Uses Globalization to
Cheat Poor Countries Out of Trillions

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/12/31/1546207

Watch/Listen to an hour long interview with John Perkins, a former
respected member of the international banking community. In his book
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man he describes how as a highly paid
professional, he helped the U.S. cheat poor countries around the globe
out of trillions of dollars by lending them more money than they could
possibly repay and then taking over their economies. John Perkins
describes himself as a former economic hit man - a highly paid
professional who cheated countries around the globe out of trillions of
dollars.

20 years ago Perkins began writing a book with the working title,
"Conscience of an Economic Hit Men."

Perkins writes, "The book was to be dedicated to the presidents of two
countries, men who had been his clients whom I respected and thought of
as kindred spirits - Jaime Roldós, president of Ecuador, and Omar
Torrijos, president of Panama. Both had just died in fiery crashes.
Their deaths were not accidental. They were assassinated because they
opposed that fraternity of corporate, government, and banking heads
whose goal is global empire. We Economic Hit Men failed to bring
Roldós and Torrijos around, and the other type of hit men, the
CIA-sanctioned jackals who were always right behind us, stepped in.

John Perkins goes on to write: "I was persuaded to stop writing that
book. I started it four more times during the next twenty years. On
each occasion, my decision to begin again was influenced by current
world events: the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1980, the first Gulf War,
Somalia, and the rise of Osama bin Laden. However, threats or bribes
always convinced me to stop."

But now Perkins has finally published his story. The book is titled
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.

The ruling elite seem to have some sort of code of conduct.   They want
to appear to always to 'play by the rules' - when they're in  their own
yard at least. The ruling elite control the news media - so they're
able to a large extent to control what the American people think.
Fortunately their curtain is beginning to crumble and people are
getting wise to their scam. Very soon, they will  fall from power (and
all the kings horses and all the kings men, won't be able to get their
sorry asses up again).  ;-)

"When a leader of a country refuses to cooperate with economic hit men
like Perkins, the jackals from the CIA are called in.
Perkins said that both Omar Torrijos of Panama and Jaime Boldos of
Ecuador -- both men he worked with - refused to play the game with
the U.S. and both were cut down by the CIA -- Torrijos when his
airplane blew up, and Roldos when his helicopter exploded, within three
months of each other in 1981.
If the CIA jackals don't do the job, then the U.S. Marines are sent
in... [as] "racketeers for capitalism."

"One reason that propaganda often works better on the educated than on
the uneducated is that educated people read more, so they receive more
propaganda. Another is that they have jobs in management, media, and
academia and therefore work in some capacity as agents of the
propaganda system--and they believe what the system expects them to
believe. By and large, they're part of the privileged elite, and share
the interests and perceptions of those in power. " Noam Chomsky

Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky demolish one of the central tenets of
our political culture, the idea of the "liberal media." Instead,
utilizing a systematic model based on massive empirical research, they
reveal the manner in which the news media are so subordinated to
corporate and conservative interests that their function can only be
described as that of "elite propaganda."

"If you want to understand the way a system works, you look at its
institutional structure. How it is organized, how it is controlled,
how it is funded." -Noam Chomsky

"The Mainstream media really represent elite interests, and what the
propaganda model tries to do is stipulate a set of institutional
variables, reflecting this elite power, that very powerfully influence
the media." -Edward Herman

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience.
Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed
the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war,
and millions have been killed because of this obedience. . . Our
problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of
poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem
is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves,
and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That's our
problem."
Howard Zinn, "Failure to Quit", p. 45

"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the
growth of private power to the point where it becomes stronger than the
democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism - ownership of
government by an individual, by a group or any controlling private
power." : President Franklin Delano Roosevelt

"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and
causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the
war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high
places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavour
to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until
all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is
destroyed." : Abraham Lincoln - 1865

"Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible
government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to
the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy
alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first
task of the statesmanship of today." : President Theodore Roosevelt -
1906

"A great industrial Nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our
system of credit is
concentrated. The growth of the Nation and all our activities are in
the hands of a few men.

"We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most
completely controlled and dominated Governments in the world - no
longer a Government of free opinion, no longer a Government by
conviction and vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion
and duress of small groups of dominant men." : Woodrow Wilson - From
his Campaign Speeches, 1912

"The developed nations of the world cannot remain secure islands of
prosperity in a seething sea of poverty. The storm is rising against
the privileged minority of the earth, from which there is no shelter in
isolation and armament. The storm will not abate until a just
distribution of the fruits of the earth enables men everywhere to live
in dignity and human decency."
Martin Luther King, Jr

As opposed to the foolishness that you posted trying to make it sound as
though it was truth?  I guess you must be posting from talk.bizarre, I was
coming at this from alt.military.retired for a reason, i.e. I am retired
military.  You don't have to believe it, I really don't care if you do, but
typically I at least attempt to post something of worth with a little bit of
logic put into the thought.  What you posted was nonsensical and obviously
written by someone who doesn't have a clue about the military or for that
matter reality.

As for the answer to your original question about Saddam's statement, the
answer is yes I remember.  Perhaps you remember that we didn't kill
ourselves on the walls of Baghdad.  Instead his soldiers died or ran away
and he was left hiding in a spider hole in someone's back yard.  As for
Fallujah, perhaps you think the death of several thousand
insurgents/terrorists equates to us killing ourselves at the (nonexistent)
walls of Fallujah?
