10 May to 7 Jun 1969
Previous sweeps of the A Shau valley in Operation Delaware and Operation Dewey Canyon were unable to keep the North Vietnamese Army from using this corridor to transport men and materiel to and from Laos. Operation Apache Snow was
directed to assault enemy formations and strongholds and block fleeing enemy troops from escaping back into Laos. One of the most intense military actions during this Operation was termed the battle of "Hamburger Hill". VC/NVA KIA 977; US
KIA 102.
