Now, watch an amateur bout, if you can stay awake, and count to yourself how
many punches you see landed and compare that to what the judges count.
Then, remember, a punch which creates a clean knockdown counts no more than
an arm-punch that would break the skin on a bowl of Jello brand pudding.

So, if Compubox is "subjective" (as Miss Taken has previously noted), what
is amateur boxing's judging?  Both rely upon the pushing of buttons by human
beings.  I'll tell you what the difference is: Compubox is run by competent
individuals.  Period.

How classic was last night's decision? There's not even a valid argument Ayala
won it! When Top Rank failed in their attempts to play head games with the
challenger (And real winner) Hugo Dianzo by not letting him know he was the
definite opponent for Ayala until 3 weeks before the fight, they then let their
corrupt judges (Gayle Van Hoy, Samuel Conde, and Anibal Miramontes,) handle the
dirty work! Not to mention the "Home town loser" had a ring built to his own
personal specifications. (Ayala fights on the inside, so a smaller ring helps,
especially when he's facing a guy who fight's on the outside)

I was so bothered by that ridiculous decision; I emailed out the following memo
to my fellow fight fans:
"Anyone that's disgusted like myself with tonight's decision on ESPN-FNF'S,
PLEASE call and complain to TOP RANK PROMOTIONS.TEL# 702-732-2712

"Paulie Ayala was clearly beat! ESPN2 analyst Teddy Atlas, who scored the fight
for Dianzo 116-112, called for an investigation if Dianzo didn't get the win.
Upon hearing the unanimous verdict for Ayala, Atlas said, "That's
wrong...that's wrong dammit...that's wrong," and called for a national
commission."

"DON'T LET THESE CORRUPT PEOPLE RUIN THE SPORT WE LOVE!"

"I called to complain and was told if I didn't like it don't watch. I said this
was the worst decision I had ever seen. And I was also told boxing would be
better off with decisions like this to provide better matches. That it would be
more entertaining to watch Ayayla and Bones than Dianzo. I explained that it
didn't matter only that a decision was supposed to be fair and indecisive. But
it seems to me TOP Rank is very arrogant and not very fan friendly. BOB ARUM is
rivaling DON KING right now with his garbage.
I was very shocked at the boldness TOP Rank showed in explaining to me how the
game works as they say."

Yes, I two thought that Ayaila's opponent clearly won the fight.  All we can do
is complain and hope that this kind of inappropriate behavior stops. Truth and
justice is definitely the way to keeping good, solid fighters fighting for
years to come.  Not corruptness on the parts of officials, judges, referees,
boxing commissions and so on...   Thanks 4 bringing awareness to this important
issue.
