You're right.  As a fan, I would like to see the titles unified.  But I
would rather see Eubank rich and well off in 10 years after winning no
titles than see him go for the glory now and have to make a comeback in
10 years.  What makes Eubank different from Moorer?  Well for one thing,
he isn't even a world champion.  Moorer holds 2/3rds of the heayvweight
division and is the linear champion as well.  Second, Eubank admits that
he'd lose to the best fighters in his division so he's opting not to
fight them.  That's what makes him special.  We don't have to wonder
how he would have done against the best.  He'd lose.  He knows that.
He admits that.  And now we don't have to wonder about it either.
If the best in a division never meet because one of them is scared
and doesn't admit it, we will forever wonder who would have beat whom.
Well, Eubank solved that problem for us right away :)

I'm not so sure about that.  I think a 1/3 champion would make more
money defending his title than he would as a #1 contender for a
unified championship fighting for no title (at least in boxing
today).  Maybe there would be more interest in boxing if we had
unified titles but who can really say.  I just don't know if a
unified title would make people appreciate a left hook to the
body any more :)

I agree!  And lets thank him for telling us that he would have lost
so we don't even have to wonder about it now :)

As a fan of boxing, I want what's best for the sport.  As a fan of the
fighters, I what's best for them as well.  Its a tough call for me
sometimes.

Dave, valid points, but I admire a Jesse James Leija one hell of a lot more
than a Eubank or Moorer. Leija: "I'd rather do my best and lose to a good
fighter than earn $2 million defending against 10 nobodies." Call him
stupid, but that's only from a financial standpoint (and only if he loses).
I call it honorable...

You ever been to Germany? The women there are amongst the most beautiful in
the world. Seems like quite a few untoward assumptions here...why don't you
report back after you spar w/ Paul, Tough Guy...

Well, according to the judges, he still would have comfortably
won if Tszyu had dropped the last round. I think most people under-
estimated this victory of Tszyu's against a tough as nails
fighter. I don't see too many "titlists" taking Hector Lopez on.
As Phrank puts it: "That Hector Lopez is one tough Hombre".

>>has seen Tszyu in later fights has told me that Tszyu looks much
>>better these days.  Can anyone confirm this?

He has looked great in his last two fights against "ranked"
fighters. In fact, they were complete mismatches. Hopefully
this is partly due to improvemenst in Tszyu and also no
doubt becasue Lopez was a tougher opponent.

>carnage). The papers mentions that Sanchez had never been knocked down
>or out in his 29 pro fight career. Is this right?

I had also heard this. I think anybody without a rock-solid chin
will go down against Tszyu. Even if they have, they still
have to face a fighter who can fire off a rapid volley
of big puches. But then again, a good counter puncher might fare well
against Tszyu as he always fights with his hands down and relies
on reflexes and deft head and trunk movements to avoid punches.

>   At the weight he is, not many people have the strength or the

IF he is successful in winning the IBF title (and those in the know
are assuming nothing about his next bout against Jake "The Snake"
Rodrigious-should be a GREAT fight) and make a couple of defenses
to build up more experience, I'm sure he'll have a good chance
at unifying the title (Tszyu has probably yet to peak and
Chavez and Randall are possibly on their way down [especially
in a year or two]). But at this stage I wouldn't throw him
in with these two fighters.

Which somehow brings me to my only personal criticism against
Tszyu. When he had Sanchez just about out on his feet in the second,
Tszyu raised his hands in "victory". You would never see Fenech
or Tyson do these sort of things-they just got on with the job.
He's never done it before-hopefully it wont become a habit.

Anyhow, look for Jake Rodrigious v Kosta Tszyu within 90 days.
A great fight coming up. Just hope it's held in Australia!

He faced MA Gonzalez last year.  I think he lost by decision.  A
tough hombre, indeed.  I had Lopez-Tszyu very close and believe that it
could have gone either way.

Yes, Randall is on his peak, and altought Chavez is on his way
down, he still can defeat most fighters in his division.
