Having same problem. Already running Windows Installer 3.1.
When I double click on the service pack installer, I get the Agree page and
then extraction begins. Very shortly after extraction begins, the process
stops and the message 'this installation has failed' pops up.

Tell us what you did to install and what happened when you tried including
any exact wording of error messages.
Of course you uninstalled any pre-installed Office trial package that came
with your new computer and also any office activation assistant and rebooted
the computer prior to attempting the install of Office SBE 2003.

After updating from Office 2000 to 2003 I cannot print multiple copies from
old documents. They print in mirror image. New docs fine. Is it a problem
with encoding? How can I fix it without redoing all old docs?

Hi I have previously removed office 2003 and installed a new office 2007.
However the automatic updates mechanism keeps trying to update office 2003,
of course it failes because it no longer exists. How can I tell automatic
updates to not update 2003?

Excuse me for saying so, David, but doing a complete re-install of
Windows because Office does a set-up everytime the PC is booted, is
complete nonsense and uncalled for, especially since we are not
dealing with a faulty windows, but with Office 2007 having a case of
the hick-ups. If there is indeed something faulty, it should/could be

Hi - If your PC is a Dell, this is a common problem. The only
effective way of dealing with it is to clean reinstall the operating
system from the disc that is supplied and not the factory restore
image on the hard disk. Somehow this has been corrupted in some way.
If you Google, you will find a lot of people with the same problem.
