I'd like to have your feedback on our next group talk scheduled primarily on SUNDAT,MAY 31st or Saturday,JUNE 6th.
I can be available at 22:30 CET(central European Time)then. For Mikhail,it shall be 24:30 half an hour after midnight on June 1st or 7th. For those in Brazil,it shall be 17:30,and for Pablo,it's 15:30.
I'd like to suggest another day and time for members in Middle East and Asia to be Wednesday,June 3rd at 13:00 CET.
Will it be a suitable day and time for Elham and other members in Iran,India,China or Vietnam?! That's 15:30 Tehran time,16:30 Indian time, and 19:00 Beijing time. For members in Vietnam, please google the time converter because I haven't got the chance to talk to any of you yet.;)
As far as I remember, our last group talk was exactly 1 year ago!!!
Anyone interested in joining the group talk, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread!;)
I personally don't think it's necessary to create a Skype room.I'll invite those who would like to take part to my conference room instead on Skype then...
Nice idea you suggested us.
I haven't joined the group talks so far, but I really would enjoy.
Unfortunately, I hardly am at home or that time on weekends. I know it's
hard to find a suitable time for all. I will wait for the next!! :)

It's not been easy for me to schedule a time for group talks...and that's why I didn't announce the date and time earlier.:(
During the last few talks last year,I had the opportunities to talk with Rocha,Mikhail,Ed,Dantas,Saber and Elham for about 1.5 to 2 hours a month.
It's just a chance for me to get to know more of you through live chat, and for you to practice speaking English if you need it. As I'm aware of,there are so many free live chat sites for you to log on to and have fun making friends on.
For those who don't know yet,I'm just a volunteer EFL/ESL teacher who don't conduct any online courses. So rest assured that I won't force you to join any classes!LOL
Oshiro, you must be going to restaurants, pubs or karaoke parlors with your friends then!;)Am I right?LOL
Wow,Lilian is finally going to meet you in person,Anu! Aren't you nervous, anxious or excited at all? I bet you are!LOL I know you'll make sure she has a wonderful time during her stay in New Delhi!!!
Spendid day,everyone! Pln

I'm extremely sorry for not calling you,Ed last night at my time!:(
I was trying to 'drag' you and Pablo into my 'new group',and had no
clue how to go about it considering the last time I did it was 1 year
ago...and I'm a complete idiot when it comes to new technology...:(
I started to call Pablo, but I talked with his adorable daughter first!
Wow,her English is better than Pablo's!!!LOL
Then I began to chat with Pablo and his wife about their dog and
parakeets...
When I realized that I was supposed to call you,you already went
offline!:(
That's really careless of me!But why didn't you call me instead?!
Did you manage to set your audio up?
I hope you'll be available on June 6th,this Saturday!Let me make up to
you then...;)
Nice week ahead of you,Pablo and all of us wherever you are!

it very often, i do not have few friends on the skype. I live in a middle
size city, which is called Hangzhou, it is really close to Shanghai, and
famous for its small lake- West Lake. In Marco Polo's book, Hangzhou is the
most beautiful cities in the world, if u visit china, i think Hangzhou is
the best try. I guess ur husband will be staying Shanghai, Guangzhou,
Beijing or HK. they are the largest cities in china, and have import and
export business. Many foreigners think chinese food are delicious, so it is
the best time for enjoy original chinese food. I will try to be on time

My daughter enjoyed the talk a lot! She was seated on the floor, over
a shoe while talking to Pln! I gave her a small cushion after some
minutes of course ;)
Pln considers the English of my daughter is good enough for her
condition (EFL), and I agree, because I think she doesn't make things
more difficult than they really are. I mean, she uses the words she
already know, she doesn't look for unknown words in the dictionary as
I do. That's the problem, when we focus on trying to use the exact
words...
And imagine.... I tried to say to Pln that she is the only
granddaughter in my family, and I said 'nephew... no!!...
niece...no!!" I realized I haven't practiced those words!!
"First of all try to speak as fluent as possible..." Then the grammar
stuff...!
"They always try to use exact translation of the word they want to
use, but it causes that they often get stuck." !!
"Try to say what you have on mind in other words - practising it is a
real key to fluent English conversation!"
"Of course the best way of practice are English conversations with
other people."
"The more you practice, the more fluent your English speaking is :)
Good luck!"
You just get a person who you can talk to! Or practice with a friend
who is also learning English, close to you... Organize a club...
Teach English to your relatives... What Else?... Or as Diana says, in
the worst case scenario, talk to your dog, or your cat.. ;)

You're right!Shanghai is his 1st destination in China,then Ningpuao
(?),Beijing,Gingpuao(?) and another town I can't recall the name...:(
He wanted to go to Hangzhou or Suzhou, but failed to find any cheaper
hotel rooms available there...Tough luck!;)
We had a very close senior friend who was originally from Hangzhou, but
she passed away last January.:(
I'm originally from Taiwan, but have been living in Poland with my
Polish-born husband and Taiwanese-born children for the last 2.5
years!
My husband will be like a fish in the water when he eats Chinese food!
LOL
He loves all kinds of spicy,stir-fried Chinese/Taiwanese food.As a
matter of fact,he's a dare devil when it comes to trying exotic foods!
LOL
I don't use skype or live chat on Yahoo or Google at all!I'm this old-
fashioned type who prefer writing to speaking!:(
Still, looking forward to a live chat of the year with you and everyone
else here on skype then!!!
Good day!

I absolutely agree with you on the conclusion you drew about your
daughter's ongoing success in speaking English!!!
After you pointed out this bad or even fatal mistake many people make,
I myself recalled this frustrating fact while communicating with my
students:
They always try to find the exact words which are identical to their
mother tongue, then they got anxious, thus their flow of thoughts or our
conversations got stuck!;(
The golden rule of mastering a language is nothing but expressing
yourself with the simple words you have known so far!
It has worked for me since I started to learn English at the age of
13...
There are still so many words I don't know, but it doesn't bother me at
all!
John or any other Chinese will easily agree with me that it's true
even there are over 30,000 Chinese characters in the dictionary, how
many do we actually need to communicate every day with other Chinese?
There are so many Chinese characters a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese don't
even know or remember how to write them ourselves!Don't you agree with
me,John?
I admire one member among us who's also a moderator at another group
for his large English vocabulary!
Quite often,I have to look up the words he uses in the dictionary
because I hadn't known before. They are acquired only if you read a
lot...;)
One more thing, being a perfectionist like you,Pablo also hinders your
English acquisition!
Learn to loosen up like your easy-going daughter,Pablo!LOL
Cheers,
Pln

If you look harder or travel further outside Taipei,Taichung,Kaoshiung
and other bigger cities,
yes, there are more interesting, natural, cleaner, friendlier places and
people to meet!;)
If by any chance, you'll be paying Taiwan a visit,do tell me and I'll
ask my acquaintances or friends to help you whatever they can!;)

I forgot about the difficulty of your getting a visa as an independent
tourist ...You're right!:(
Mainland Chinese and Taiwanese governments aren't that friendly as
people like you and me,are they?LOL
Oh,well, never mind since you'll be studying in Holland this fall soon!
Where in Holland will you be studying?
My husband and I had been in and out the countries so many times a
decade ago because we had plans settling down there...
The last time when we were in 2 cities there was 2.5 years ago with
our kids.
I aslo encouraged Elham to choose Europe to study instead of USA.
Every country in Europe has its own characteristics and charm, and you
are so close to every other country by train on the weekend!
If it's fun, diversity or cultural events that you're looking

yes, indeed, about a decade ago, the Communist Party want to show their
kindness to Taiwanese and wish investing, make a easy visiting plan to
taiwanese, but taiwan authorities still think chinese government will
send communists
to the island, so it is really bad for tourists like me. These things should
be belong to the dammed politics,. lol
I will study in Eindhoven, it is a industrial city, where the center of
philps is located, and a famous football club psv eindhoven.
I think europe is suit for young people, there are so many countries and
places to visit and to settle. and young people are full of energy, can
learn different languages easily. in this point, i think it is a little bit
difficult for old people.
I will study computer there, basicly focus on software.
Hangzhou is really hot right now, you should tell him to watch the music
fountain on the west lake in the dark, it is a new site, but interesting

How old are you,John? If you don't mind telling us here...;)
Mind you that Dutch people are rather wary of foreigners who
understand their language too well!LOL
How did I know it?
Because we bought a book in a small town there and it's called "The
Undutchable"!LOL
It's a book worth reading since you're going to study there.
It's all about Dutch people's mentality and behaviours...something you
can say about their unspeakable secrets;) or some sort...LOL
I only knew Eindhoven while passing through by train several
times,that's all!
English is very common in Western Europe as people there, especially in
Holland,Belgium,Switzerland or Luxemburg are multilingual.
I don't think my husband will have interest in going especially to see
the music fountain in Hangzhou at night.
We are alternative travellers which means quite different from
ordinary tourists...LOL
He'd been suffering from a terrible jet lag and without doubt, after he
got used to it,he'll have to adjust to another jet lag back home!LOL
It's interesting that you think Europe is suitable for young people.A
lot of Taiwanese or American I know told me it's a too old continent
where everything you see is just ancient architecture or museums!LOL
Anyhow,Great weekend again to us all!

it is ok, i am 20.
I think it is really necessary have a good command of native language if i
want to find a job there. but well, i can pretend have no idea about dutch.
i will keep the book in my mind, hehe, undutchable.
i think the best way to know people's mind and culture is learning their
language.
well, in my opinion, old continent with old cities have a lot of fun, we can
image we had been through the history stories. I dont think the new cities
with skyscrapers attract me. I think the only reason I want to live a big
new city is high salary.
I think young people should have some special dreams, like work in NGO,
travelling around the world and ect. and work for living is a middle aged
man's thinking.

Oh,boy,Charles!LOL
You sound just like another curious cat to me counting how many 'LOL'
in my previous post,aren't you?;)
It's just coincidental,of course!
But after reading your mischievious message dated Saturday,June 6th,I
recalled that there were 3 sixes in the calendar!!!
According to Western superstition,3 sixes is a symbol of Satan or
something like that,isn't it?!:(
And what's interesting is that 6 is a lucky number for Chinese, isn't
it?
OK.I've used 3 tag questions so far...Is it a bad sign again?!LOL
And John, you sound quite different from other young Chinese or
Taiwanese I've known.
You have more in common with me sharing the same attitude or view
towards life,work and Europe.;)
Very true!In order to experience everything abroad first hand, one has
to comprehend the local language as to interact with the locals as
well!
I've never travelled to any places with groups of tourists organised
by travel agencies.
What kind of adventures can one have if it's second-hand?!
Doesn't anyone agree with me?;)
By the way,Pablo,I haven't got time to watch the talk you mentioned
yesterday yet...:(
I'll do it hopefully tomorrow and let you know what I think!
Beautiful Sunday to you three,Edward,Josney and the rest of
unresponsive members!;)
