it as helpful as we'd like. We're dedicated to improving the Google
Apps experience, and we want to know your opinions. Please feel free

Who is my domain host?
Domain hosts run DNS servers for your domain. This includes A records, MX records, and CNAME records. Most domain hosts offer domain registration as well. If you purchased your domain name while signing up for Google Apps, your domain host is either GoDaddy.com or eNom.com. To check which of these was assigned to be your domain host, log into your Control Panel as the Administrator and click on the link to Domain names. If you did not purchase your domain name while signing up for Google Apps and your are not sure which company (also called registrar) is hosting your domain, there are some tools available on the internet that can help you. One of these is whois (pronounced as who-is). There are several websites that will allow you to run whois for your domain name. To find one of these websites, do a search at google.com with the terms: whois free. Two popular sites for whois and other dns tools are Network-Tools.com and Kloth.net. Google is not associated with these companies. Once you have found a whois website, enter your domain name and click on the "submit" button. You will at least see the following information after using whois: - Domain Name: mydomain.com
- Registrar: myregistrar.com (Example ENOM, INC.)
- Name Server: (Example DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM). There will be at least two nameservers
- Creation Date: dd-mmm-yyyy When your domain name was created.
- Updated Date: dd-mmm-yyyy When a change was made to your Domain record, e.g. a renewal.
- Expiration Date: dd-mmm-yyy When the registration for your domain name will expire unless renewed.
For many people the Registrar will be your domain host, but there could also be one more company 'in between'. If a 3rd party domain host is used then the nameservers may directly show the name of the domain host, e.g. ns1.everydns.net. For more obscure nameserver names like dns1.name-services.com, a Google.com search for this server name will likely reveal the name of the Domain Host. |
