I'm unable to upload a custom logo for my domain.? No custom logo at present.

I've saved the picture as GIF, JPG JPEG, PNG, all less than 20k size

From the Domain / Settings / Appearance page, Custom logo, Browse & select the picture

it fails, a I am given the error "Only jpeg, png or gif file please.."

Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong

I answer my own question - having found another thread

Google take note: an improved error message, or text guidance on that page would have saved me an hour:

Just to confirm: it does meet these standards as defined in the
control panel

"The image file should be in PNG or GIF format and scaled to 143 x 59
pixels"

NOTE: the size of custom logos for Sites is different--143x52
