Yeah, I've gotta have Access too. From the site it says you have to have
a valid Windows license. If you have a valid Windows license, why not
run virtualbox or vmware? I'm running Access over a Win7 RC through
virtualbox. EZ setup.

If you *must* use Windows, a better option is to install it in a VM and
run Access from inside that. As it is a full install of Redmonds best,
you shouldn't have any issues.
As a developer I would not consider running a Windows program in Wine
(Windows is already flaky enough).

Just run GIMP on it's own virtual desktop and the other application on another
virtual desktop. Myself I run different application on different virtual
desktops, that way they don't mess up with each other.
You can build your own scripts to do things for you, never done that myself as
I don't do much with GIMP more than resize and sometimes add some small things.
