I have a simple question, whenever I open my terminal from gnome it starts with a ASCCIart "splashscreen" (donno how to describe it better...) It is a logo with some "nice" text of some kind. I promise to take my cynical-psyche-questions to alt.cynical.psyche, but this one is related to Linux... And yes you've guessed it... I want to get rid of the ASCII stuff.
But how? I tried to find something in .bashrc but with no luck. And starting means starting IMHO, not: clear <enter>, than start. ;-)

Check in /etc/issue
-- "All right, all right, if it will make you happy, I will overthrow society." - Philip J. Fry
I already checked .bashrc and couldn't find a thing... Strengthened by your advice I looked again this time in /etc/bash.bashrc Hashed the entry /usr/bin/mint-fortune
And that was the end of it! I finally have a proper terminal :)
