I'm running AVG anti-virus, Ad-aware, and Spybot. Is this good enough for virus/spyware/malware protection, or are there better programs out there? What do you suggest?

Depends, what browser are you using ? No flamewar intended, but if your using Firefox or Opera and you're (group)-google for malware before you install software you'd be allright IMHO.

Dont' forget a firewall. Also you may want to try the free version on ewido antispyware, which is made by the same people who make AVG. WinPatrol is also a good program.

I'd say everyone that surfs the internet needs to use Sandboxie. There are a lot of web sites that that install malware just by opening them. Sandboxie works differently that other programs. It saves all the junk to a sandbox which can be deleted.

OK, so it's no problem. The last sentence from your link:
'As the vendor involved has not been involved in the distribution of adware for many months, and as the program itself exhibits no problems serious enough to warrant mention on this page, we have decided to de- list Spyware Terminator from the Rogue/Suspect list and can no longer regard the program to be "rogue/suspect."'

That's all I'm doing. Of course, I run a good firewall and don't use IE except for Yahoo email and the MS websites. Also, never open any attachment from anybody unless you're certain it's safe.

I would recommend Comodo Firewall, AVG is fine, and Spyware Terminator as a nice full suite. Occassionally do an online scan from Panda, Etrust, or Kaspersky.
That being said, if you are a very safe surfer you could get away with windows firewall, AVG, spybot and spywareblaster. Then do some online scans occassionally.
My best recommendation is Comodo PFW, AntiVir, and Spywareterminator.

I agree...sandboxie is awesome, though not being a full virtual machine can be leaked through.

Well, the reason I asked was that I see John uses Thunderbird (??? and Firefox browser???). I use Seamonkey, and am aware that there was a problem with Yahoo mail and Seamonkey, (and also Firefox), in that Yahoo mail sometimes crashed Seamonkey or Firefox, but there is a fix for this. Never mind.

I didn't notice any mention of integrated anti-virus. Also, why would I want this program over Windows Defender for example?

I don't recommend Clam. I wouldn't install it. I would recommend AntiVir, AVAST, and AVG in that order. Windows defender is ok, but several other progs are needed to overlap what it does. Spyware Terminator does the job of all the usual recommended anti-spyware progs with a better interface except for the rare rootkits. You can scan for those online or get a rootkit scanner. I don't know of active protection against rootkits. Maybe someone here does.
