I've been trying to figure out what the little icon is that pops up occassionally on both the external display and internal screen on my new LG 8360.
I can't find a key to display icons in the manual.
After Googling a bit I sent email to LG support and they could neither figure out the answer from my description nor refer me to any key to all standard icons.
I mean, seriously, folks!
It's a little dingus that looks like an arrow on the left pointing at a mousey-looking thing that probably represents the phone itself - and I believe it turns out to be a "missed call" indicator, because after I scroll through a bunch of stuff including missed calls, it goes away. I suppose I could run some experiments ... but must I really reverse-engineer the damned thing?

First level technical support is usually only able to explain how to turn it on, how to dial a number, and that sort of thing. There is frequently a second level and sometimes even a third to handle the *really* tough questions. Sometimes the first level person you are talking to can "escalate" the call to someone better able to answer the tough questions.
You might show your "mystery icon" to someone at the local Verizon store or the place where you bought the phone. It's possible that someone there could identify it.

Probably.
But what about the mystery icon that shows up for the first time tomorrow, I have to keep running back to the store, wait in line for twenty minutes, and act like an idiot, because they can't write a useful manual?

Caveat Emptor!
Try a Motorola phone next time. I'll be eligible for "New Every Two" in December but I think I'll just keep my RAZR V3m. My only complaint is that the "voice recognition" claimed for the phone doesn't work worth a damn for me. I have to say "check status" about thirty times before the phone recognizes the command. I don't even try voice dialing; I'm afraid I'd get thirty wrong numbers!!

I got this phone recently myself. On Page 88 of my manual it tells you how to find the icon glossary in the phone. Go to settings & tools, press 0, press 3 & you'll find a list of the icons & their meaning. Works on my phone, anyway. Would have been nice to have it in the manual so you didn't have to go digging in the phone, but at least it's there.

Fantastic! Many thanks!
(and it *was* the "missed call" icon)
... someone should maybe tell LG support about this.
